Liquor Licensing Tribunal

The LLT is composed of representatives from local government, the South African Police Services (SAPS) and the public. It is chaired by a Presiding Officer (PO) with a legal background. The composition of the LLT is deliberate in that representatives mirror the stakeholders and role players involved in a liquor licence application.

In terms of section 16 of the Western Cape Liquor Act 2008, as amended the Liquor Licensing Tribunal consists of:

  • Presiding Officer
  • Deputy Presiding Officer
  • Deputy Presiding Officer
  • 2x Public Members
  • SAPS Representative
  • SALGA Representative (representing organized local government)
  • 2x Substitute Members

The period of Office is prescribed in terms of section 18 of the Western Cape Liquor Act 2008.

Appeal Tribunal

Appeal Tribunal is established in terms of section 25(1) of the Western Cape Liquor Act 2008 as amended.
